National Coverage Determinations

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) periodically makes changes to the list of services that Medicare covers across the nation. These can be legislative changes or National Coverage Decisions (NCDs), which change or enhance member benefits. NCDs apply to all Medicare beneficiaries including members of Medicare Advantage Organizations such as HIP. All HIP members with Medicare Plans are entitled to the NCD enhancements if medical necessity criteria are met.

HIP will notify members and briefly explain new Medicare NCDs and legislative changes here on HIPusa.com, as necessary. Usually, new NCDs are covered and paid for under your HIP membership benefits.
