ConnectiCare of New York Makes Entry into Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam Counties

Insurer Offering Attractive, Competitively-Priced Health Plans to Small Employer Groups

White Plains, N.Y. -- June 21, 2005 - Small business owners with up to 50 employees now have an additional health plan to choose from when evaluating health insurance coverage options for their employees.

ConnectiCare of New York (CNY), sister company to the Farmington, Connecticut-based HMO, ConnectiCare, Inc., was approved by New York regulators in January of this year to do business in Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam counties, allowing CNY to market and begin enrolling new members as of June 1.

"ConnectiCare plans to expand its popular name brand health insurance products across state lines to specifically address the needs of small business owners seeking relief from high health insurance premiums," said Paul Philpott, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for ConnectiCare.

"Our primary sales strategy is to work through general agents in New York, providing us with access to a large distribution channel of brokers," Philpott added.

ConnectiCare of New York, Inc. has begun offering its HMO and Point-of-Service health plans in New York with a provider network of 16 acute care hospitals and approximately 2,900 providers.

ConnectiCare of New York's health plans will be particularly attractive to small employers that are based in New York, but may have employees that live across the Connecticut state line. Similarly, ConnectiCare, Inc., markets its plans to Fairfield County employers with employees that live in New York.

CNY has recently hired Marc Altneu as Director of Sales for New York. Mr. Altneu already has strong business and broker relationships in the four-county region. Previously he was a Brokered Account Manager for Empire Blue Cross.

ConnectiCare of New York, Inc., and ConnectiCare, Inc., the third largest HMO in Connecticut, are both part of the HIP Family of Health Plans. ConnectiCare, Inc. was ranked in the top ten nationally by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for HEDIS Effectiveness of Care Quality measures.
